We offer classes in beautiful South West Wales at several venues, including historic National Trust locations. Nordic Walking is something that anyone can do. We have a variety of classes available which are small, fun, and full of variety. No two weeks are ever the same.
Our group classes encourage people out into the countryside to benefit from green outdoor exercise and to enjoy socialising with others. Our Nordic Walking include FREE Taster sessions, Learn to Nordic Walk courses, Adventure Walks, Gentle Walks and soon to arrive, T’ai Chi & Nordic walks. Whichever class you attend you can be guaranteed a huge smile and warm welcome, with clients and the team regularly enjoying a cuppa at the end.

Stuart Anderson – Nordic Walking Instructor
Hi my Name is Stuart Anderson and I live in Llanelli with my wife Ann, we have two grown up son’s Lee and Craig, Ann and I have been married for 47 years.
In 2013 I retired from work, and I also retired after spending thirty years in the Air Training Corps where I attained the rank of Squadron Leader, in my working life I was a Health and Safety trainer employed by TATA Steel in Port Talbot works, and during my time in the Air Training Corps I had several roles as a Squadron Commander and moving onto becoming a Wing Staff officer with responsibilities for Sport, This meant arranging sports venues and transport to get cadets from all over South West Wales to participate and go on to represent their Wing at the next level at RAF Cosford, in the West Midlands.
I have been volunteering at Dinefwr for two years, and I volunteer with the volunteering officer doing behind the scene admin, and because of my previous experience in work as a trainer, I also carry out the majority of staff and volunteer training.
Our volunteering officer told us about a Nordic Walking Taster session that was being arranged at Dinefwr, both my wife and myself signed up and thoroughly enjoyed it and signed up to do the Learn to Nordic Walk course, which we both enjoyed and completed. I went on to train as a Walk Leader, I have always enjoyed walking, as I used to organise the Black Mountain March in the Ammanford area, and regularly completed a 25K walk, but Nordic Walking gives you a better workout through the upper body as well as the legs. I only wish I had started Nordic Walking sooner. I have now trained as an Instructor, and I am looking forward to training other people, and for them to discover the enjoyment of Nordic Walking and the benefits of a whole-body workout, along with the social benefits that Nordic Walking brings.
Jeff Jenions – Nordic Walk Leader
My name is Jeff Jenions and I am a Nordic Walk Leader.
I retired in 2014 and after enjoying a few months doing very little I decided that for my sanity as well as my waist line I should get up and do something. I decided that volunteering would be a good way to get me out of the house and doing something useful. The National Trust was having a volunteer recruiting drive, so I volunteered and ended up at my local National Trust property and am now part of the Volunteer Support Team. I have been volunteering since 2015.
In September 2016 the property embarked on a partnership with Becki Stevenson (Nordic Walking UK) to encourage more outdoor activity use of the extensive estate that is Dinefwr Park. A group of volunteers were roped in the try a Nordic Walking Taster, to see if the scheme would work. I was one of the group thinking what could be simpler than going for stroll with a couple of poles in your hands. Well I was wrong on both counts, this was neither a stroll nor simple. By the time we were finished I felt muscles that I didn’t even think I had and surprised by how technical an activity it was. However I was hooked, so I then completed the 4 week Learn to Nordic Walk course to get my Freedom Passport.
The experiment at Dinefwr has been a resounding success and the number of classes has grown to such an extent that it became clear that there was a need for more leaders, so I then trained to be a Walk Leader. I lead one of the Adventure Walks and a Photography Walk. What better way to have fun, learn a skill and get fit.
Ann Anderson – Nordic Walk Leader
My name is Ann Anderson, I’m married to Stuart for the last 47 years and we have 2 sons and 9 grandchildren.
Before retiring I was a clerical officer with the NHS based at Morriston Hospital Swansea. In my spare time I was a commissioned Officer within the Air Training Corp for 20yrs 15 of which was spent running a Squadron at Ammanford. When I retired I found I needed to become more involved in the community so I started volunteering with the National Trust at Dinefwr Park in Llandeilo where I am a catering assistant. It was while I was at Dinefwr that I was introduced to Nordic Walking, Becki Stevenson (Nordic Walking UK) came and asked if there were any staff or volunteers interested in having a Taster Course, so like many others I decided to give it a try as I knew I needed to do some sort of exercise and since then I have never looked back.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was unable to control it, but with the help of Nordic Walking it is now under control, I also have rheumatoid arthritis and it helps to keep my joints moving. The other aspect for me is the social side, meeting other people and having a coffee after the walk, this is where friends are made. I recently qualified as a Walk Leader and am looking forward to the challenges this will bring, I would encourage anybody to come and try Nordic Walking as the benefits are numerous.
Sabine Day – Nordic Walk Leader
I moved to Ceredigion a few years ago, where I run a smallholding. Even though this keeps me very busy I wanted something more in my life. In April 2018 I came across Nordic Walking and thought why not! Joining the “Learn to Nordic Walk” course changed my life completely. I was hooked straightaway; it is fun, even the initial struggles walking with two poles that appear to have a mind of their own, it did not take long to master them.
Not only have I met many lovely and interesting people, I have discovered various amazing places in Wales too. Having struggled with weight gain and high blood pressure for a long time, I was amazed that after only 3 months of Nordic Walking and change of diet, I was not only fitter and have lost weight but have managed to reduce my medication.
In July 2018 it was suggested I train as a Walk Leader, so here I am.

Hola! In January 2017 I discovered Nordic Walking and have since been amazed at the change in my fitness level and new-found energy and strength. I am now passionate about including Nordic Walking in my weekly routine. recently working as a teacher in Madrid, I Nordic walked to school every day, much to the curiosity of the children.
You do not have to be super-fit to start Nordic Walking. I would encourage anyone who wants to get a bit, or a lot more active, to join me or Stuart on one of the courses (the Taster sessions are FREE). It’s completely up to you how far you want to take it, literally! Not only that, you will make new friends from a wealth of different backgrounds and in the process, you can be assured that you will have fun and meet your personal goals in the best gym of all – the great outdoors!
